What to expect in lessons
We work on what modern piano playing is really about: chords, voicings, comping, groove and improvisation in pop, R&B, soul and jazz. Alongside that, we combine ear training, practical exercises and just as much theory as you need to decode and arrange songs yourself – without letting the fundamentals slip.
If you like, we'll take first steps toward songwriting and your own compositions: from understanding your favourite songs to making your own music.
Who it's for
Adults and motivated teenagers – beginners as much as advanced players who want to move away from pure sheet-reading toward free, creative playing. Classically trained pianists who want to learn pop and jazz harmony are in the right place too. Lessons available in German or English.
Your piano teacher
I'm Roman – pianist, keyboardist and piano teacher in Berlin. I studied pop music (B.A., Institut für Musik Osnabrück) and play keys regularly in Berlin's R&B, groove and soul scene, with touring experience including Mathi, Paula Engels, Katha Pauer and Paula Dalla Corte. What I play on stage at night is what I teach you in your lessons.

Common questions about piano lessons
-
To practise, a keyboard or digital piano with 61–88 keys is enough at the start (ideally weighted keys). I'm happy to advise you on buying one.
-
No. In modern piano lessons we work a lot with chord symbols, lead sheets and the ear – you'll pick up reading along the way, as much as it's useful to you.
-
Yes – a large part of my students are adult beginners. With the right methods you'll reach playable results faster than you think.
